2006 PRESS RELEASE
Erosion range launched
Following the tremendous success of our Elements range of commercial carpet tiles, Erosion has been launched as a companion product - designed to work alongside Elements, but equally impressive when used alone. The brief to our product design team was challenging, to create a very textural, linear carpet tile that could be laid either quarter-turn or monolithic and to co-ordinate each colour with the Elements palette.
The result is a beautiful, sophisticated product that combines areas of cut and loop pile within a subtle, eroded pattern. Together the texture and pattern create a carpet with depth and interest without becoming intrusive or overpowering.
Encore SD Ultima solution dyed nylon, manufactured by our partners J&J Industries, was the obvious choice of fibre, not only because of the superb range of available colour components, that enabled us to achieve the subtle combinations demanded by the design brief, but also for its outstanding performance characteristics and guaranteed minimum 25% recycled nylon content. This combination of high quality solution dyed nylon, with texture, complex colour combinations and subtle patterning, creates a carpet that not only looks great but will perform superbly in the most demanding commercial locations.
Solution dyed nylon brings many benefits to the end user: as the pigment is added to the molten polymer prior to extrusion of the fibre, yarns are coloured to the core and as a result are far more colourfast than surface dyed carpets. In practical terms this means that Erosion won't fade when exposed to sunlight or atmospheric contaminants, nor when cleaned using harsh chemicals. That makes maintenance easy and more cost-effective - a process further helped by the factory applied fluorocarbon stain blocker - and ensures the carpets retain their good looks much longer. Better colour consistency is also a feature of solution dyed nylon making it the right choice for large installations.
Erosion is manufactured on our unique, state-of-the-art 12 gauge scroll tufting equipment, the technology behind our innovative textures and patterns. And this equipment also brings significant performance benefits to the product by allowing us to create a denser wear surface - the "gauge" simply refers to the number of stitch placements per inch across the width of the carpet, the more stitches the denser the construction. The majority of commercial carpets are made on 10th gauge machines, or on equipment with 2 needlebars, each of different gauges. Our equipment, unique in Europe, is a true 12th gauge in that all the needles are aligned on a single bar so every tuft is part of the wear surface ensuring superb durability.
Erosion is launched October 1st 2006 in 18 colours and presented in a folder that incorporates a number of co-ordinated Elements colours. Available from stock Erosion is engineered to provide outstanding performance in all types of commercial location and is supported by lifetime wear, colourfastness, static protection and stain removal warranties.
